# SQLite → MariaDB / MySQL SQL Converter
## Files
-
`index.html` — main application
-
`style.css` — interface styling
-
`app.js` — SQLite SQL conversion and file-saving logic
## How to use
1. Open `index.html` in Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
2. Select your SQLite `.sql` export.
3. Choose:
- **Save in same directory as input file**, or
- **Choose output directory**
4. Enter the desired output filename.
5. Click **Convert & Save**.
The conversion happens entirely in the browser.
The SQL file is not uploaded to a server.
## Browser support
Chrome and Microsoft Edge provide the best support because they support the File System Access API.
For "same directory as input", browser security prevents an ordinary web page from automatically discovering and writing to the source file's directory.
The application therefore opens a native Save dialog. You can select the same directory there.
When "Choose output directory" is selected, supported browsers can write directly into the selected directory after permission is granted.
The converter handles common SQLite exports, including:
- AUTOINCREMENT → AUTO_INCREMENT
- Common SQLite data types → MySQL/MariaDB types
- INSERT OR IGNORE → INSERT IGNORE
- INSERT OR REPLACE → REPLACE INTO
- SQLite PRAGMA statements removed
- SQLite transaction statements removed
- sqlite_sequence statements removed
- Double-quoted identifiers → MySQL backticks
- CREATE TABLE, CREATE INDEX, CREATE VIEW and common DML
Complex SQLite-specific features such as FTS/virtual tables and unusual triggers may require manual review after conversion.
## Security
No server is required. The selected SQL file is read locally by JavaScript and the resulting SQL file is saved locally.
Downloads require a free account. After you request a download, a personal link is emailed to you (valid 48 hours).
